The Bees Have Arrived at Oxford’s Beehive!
September 19, 2024
Exciting news, everyone – the day is finally here! Oxford’s Beehive has its first residents: Beatrice and Helga, two lovely scout bees who have arrived ahead of about 20 more soon-to call the alley home. And guess what? They’re looking for sponsors!
We’re offering you the chance to sponsor a bee by having your name, family name, business, organization, or group tattooed on one of these bees, helping support the mural’s completion. While sponsorship isn’t cheap, it’s been a very cost-effective project overall, and we still need funds to finish strong. For $1,000, you can become a “Bee Keeper,” with your name forever attached to one of our bees in the mural.
Top of the Wall – We’re Almost There!
September 09, 2024
Today was a huge day at the alley! We finally reached the top of the wall, and now it’s time to fill in the rest of the Oxford Hive Mural. A big shout-out to my awesome helpers – “Monk” from Hamilton, and Ana and Abby from Miami’s Art Marketing and Painting! They absolutely rocked it, getting people involved and keeping the painting momentum going all day!
I’ll be back at the mural on Saturday from 2-5 PM after the market, and again next week from 10-5 all week. Whether you want to paint, help out, donate, or just hang out and play some music, come by and join in on the fun!
Community Hive Painting is Complete
September 06, 2024
We are thrilled to announce that all community spots for painting the Oxford Hive Mural have now been filled! Whether you were a seasoned artist or a curious first-timer, each of you contributed to making this mural a true community effort.
As we move into the final stages, we’ll be using a donated cherry picker to complete the top of the wall. This generous support allows us to add the finishing touches and ensure that every corner of the hive gets the attention it deserves.
Incredible Turnout at Red Brick Friday!
August 30, 2024
We couldn’t be more excited about the turnout we had during Red Brick Friday’s Streets & Eats event on August 30th! So many of you came out to paint with us, and we were blown away by the number of new faces. From families to students, and even a few adventurous passersby who decided to pick up a brush, the community spirit was in full force.
We’ve filled almost all of the remaining spaces on the mural thanks to your participation. The hive is coming together beautifully, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the energy and support you all brought to the event. The final stages are in sight, and we’re more motivated than ever to bring this mural to completion!
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to lend a hand, and for those who didn’t get a chance, we’ll still have opportunities for you to join in on the finishing touches.

Community Collaboration Shines in Oxford Bee Hive Mural Project
August 27, 2024
We’re excited to share that the Oxford Bee Hive mural is not just a project by a few artists, but a creation powered by our incredible community. We’ve invited local residents, Miami students, and their families to pick up a paintbrush and contribute directly to the mural’s design. Together, we’ve been painting the cells of the hive, adding color, creativity, and a personal touch from every participant.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to fill the mural, cell by cell, together as a community!
Progress and Community Spirit!
August 24, 2024
We’ve got some exciting news to share about our Oxford Bee Hive mural! It’s been just one week, and we’re already making fantastic progress. Thanks to the incredible support from our community, including local residents, Miami students, and their families, we’ve reached 20% of our fundraising goal. And we’re thrilled to announce that the mural itself is about 30% complete!
The next steps are big ones—we’ve still got 30 feet of wall to cover, and then we’ll be adding the final touch: filling it with beautiful, buzzing bees to complete Oxford’s Bee Hive.
Our crew has grown, too! Natasha and Elise have joined us, bringing our team up to four. The energy has been amazing, with folks stopping by to share their thoughts, lend a hand, and even pick up a paintbrush. Your support means the world to us, and it’s what keeps us going.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far. We’re well on our way to creating something truly special for Oxford!
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue this creative journey together.
Ladder Donations Elevate Oxford's Bee Hive
August 21, 2024
Our muralists have made remarkable progress on Oxford’s Bee Hive mural, thanks in no small part to the community’s generous donation and lending of ladders. These contributions have allowed us to reach new heights, quite literally!
As we move forward, we’re now in need of a 30’ scissor lift or cherry picker to continue our work at the highest levels. If you have one available or know someone who does, please reach out to us. Your support helps us bring this mural to life!
Mural Layout
August 15, 2024
We’re thrilled to share the first stages of Oxford’s Bee Hive Mural! This morning, our team made significant progress by tracing the hexagon patterns that will form the foundation of the mural’s design. The work took place in the alley across from the Uptown stage, marking an exciting step forward in this community-driven initiative. A big thank you to the talented individuals who have stepped up to help bring this vision to life.
Base Coat
August 07, 2024
We’re thrilled to share the first stages of Oxford’s Bee Hive mural project! A big thank you to the talented individuals who have stepped up to help bring this vision to life. Larry S. Davidson, a dedicated local general contractor, has expertly handled the base coats on the West wall. Meanwhile, the Brian Brothers—Luke, Lenny, and Eric—have worked their magic on the East wall. Their hard work and dedication are laying a strong foundation for this vibrant community mural. We greatly appreciate their contribution and look forward to seeing the mural come to life!
